Positions of major need
Now that Rocky Boiman's signing gives the Eagles six linebackers on the roster, we decided to take a look at the positions where the Eagles absolutely need more players. And not just bodies, significant players.
• Kick/punt returner — Reno Mahe isn't even on the roster to return punts. Somebody has to do it. Our impression is the Eagles will be looking to fill these spots some time in the early rounds of the draft.
• Wide receiver — By trying to sign Randy Moss and inquiring about Larry Fitzgerald, the Eagles admitted they would like to upgrade at this position. And everybody agrees an upgrade is necessary.
• Offensive tackle — After watching what Winston Justice brings to the table, what does the future hold when William Thomas and Jon Runyan are no longer around? It doesn't look good right now. Another quality option is mandatory by the time the season starts just in case Thomas or Runyan get injured. Nobody wants to see a repeat of the first Giants game last year.
• Defensive tackle — Brodrick Bunkley and Mike Patterson are good young players. But you need more than two capable bodies at this position in the NFL, otherwise the starters get worn down. The Eagles showed last year they are not completely confident with LaJuan Ramsey or Montae Reagor on the field.
