Will holding out help Westbrook?

Should Brian Westbrook make a statement and not report on time to Eagles training camp by 5 p.m. on Thursday? Missing a few days won't hurt his play -- Westbrook was limited throughout all of training camp last year and look how much it hurt him then -- and could help his pocketbook.

But what does history in the Andy Reid-Joe Banner era suggest? Unless you're name is Brian Westbrook, don't hold out. Fortunately for him, his name is Brian Westbrook.

Past holdouts and how it turned out:

Brian Westbrook 2005 -- Westbrook missed a week during the T.O. saga and eventually received a five-year extension that he is now unhappy with and wants to rework.

Corey Simon -- Simon took a while to get his rookie deal done and seemingly wanted a new contract every year after he signed it. He never received another long-term deal from the Eagles. He was shipped out of Philadelphia soon enough.

Duce Staley 2003 -- The bruising back was looking for a new contract and more money. He never received either. Soon enough, he wasn't an Eagle.

Brodrick Bunkley 2006 -- Bunkley wasn't asking for a new contract, he was looking to sign his rookie deal. Still, it took a few weeks of training camp before getting resolved and Bunkley never seemed to catch up during his rookie season.
