Andrews' season in jeopardy
It's been almost a month since Pro Bowl right guard Shawn Andrews hurt his back. Considering it's not getting any better and he's about to visit his fourth specialist, Andrews' season has to be considered in jeopardy.
That's not a misprint. Andrew is scheduled to see his fourth specialist this week. Why so many?
"It wasn't getting better like we were anticipating," coach Andy Reid said.
That and the Eagles are searching for straws. They are obviously trying to find something that will get Andrews healthy some time this season.
While Reid insists Max Jean-Gillis is doing a good job in Andrews' place, the players (and coaches) know his absence is huge. Andrews' teammates all rave about just how good he is when he's on the field, and the Eagles' running results provide the proof.
It's been a tough few months for Andrews, who missed training camp due to depression. Now the back injury has limited him to just 2 1/2 games.
The rest of the Birds' walking wounded, however, should return after the bye week. Brian Westbrook (ribs), Reggie Brown (groin) and Kevin Curtis (sports hernia) are all expected to be on the field when the Eagles next play on Oct. 26 against the upstart Falcons.
