Everybody commenting on Eagles' mess
We've aware of what everyone in Philadelphia is saying and writing about the Eagles, Donovan McNabb and Andy Reid. It's not pretty. How could it be after an embarrassing 36-7 loss in Baltimore on Sunday in a game where McNabb was benched at halftime?
But the local media and fans are not the only ones with harsh words for the fledgling franchise. Here are some of the comments being made by the so-called media experts around the country:
ESPN's Sal Paolantonio:
"It's done. It's over. [McNabb] is not coming back next year."
Sports Illustrated's Peter King:
"Donovan McNabb looks awful. He's slow-footed with severe accuracy issues."
CBSSports' Clark Judge:
"It's not a quarterback controversy in Philadelphia; it's a quarterback problem. Here's how I know: Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb's combined passer rating Sunday was 12.5."
CBSSports' Pete Prisco:
"What a mess. They can't do anything on offense -- no matter who the quarterback is."
NFL.com's Pat Kirwin:
"I've always believed in Donovan McNabb and would not have pulled him from [Sunday's] game. That being said, his career in Philadelphia is probably over. But he may not be tradeable with his contract."
NFL Network's Warren Sapp:
"I think it's pretty obvious. Fire the coach ... Andy Reid is not going to bring a championship to Philadelphia."
NBC's Chris Collinsworth:
"Donovan learned last week the game could end in a tie. This week, he learned the game could end at the half. The only thing worse than Donovan McNabb was his replacement and the decision by Andy Reid to replace him at halftime on the road against the Baltimore Ravens' killer defense. The season ended [Sunday] for the Philadelphia Eagles."
